Jan 2009
I started Dig for Leadership for a few reasons;
Trying to keep up with all the great conversations. It is hard to keep up with and find the all the different topics and sources that are relevant to leadership in one place (e.g. strategy, psychology, systems thinking, networking, intangibles, hr, organisations, culture, technology and so on).
People are better than computers when it comes to editing. I hope that by having people submit stories, comment and vote on them, that this will help create better and more relevant information for everyone.
I am interested in changes in media, news, group dynamics, culture, open innovation, crowd sourcing and collaboration and the site seems like an interesting way to explore all of these together.
Update – May 2009
I’m now thinking that the site might help hightlight the questions and thoughts that act as a catalyst in changing the world…
Update – June 2009
The old Dig for Leadership site was getting over run by spammers. The software used to power it, Pligg, wasn’t the greatest at handling this.
Wordpress might be an improvement in that;
- The use of RSS makes it much quicker to add links
- Tags are automatically generated via Yahoo’s API
- The site still updates twitter et. al via twitterfeed
- The spam problem will go now!
Also, my hope is that the site becomes
- More niche compared to Reddit and Digg
- More signal than nose compared to Twitter
While still focussing on user selected content!
If you fancy a chat, please get in touch.
Thanks,
Bruce
